Evaluate a soybean yield

Before starting the estimation, be sure to have a measuring tape and a 30-feet rope on hand.

Walk for 50 feet along the side of the field.
Go 50-75 feet perpendicularly into the field
Measure row spacing (in inches)
Measure a 3-feet distance in a row
Count all plants on each side of the row over 3 feet
Pull randomly 3 plants over one row of 3 feet
On each of the 3 plants, count the number of pods of over 1/4 inch
Evaluate growth stage
Give an overall appreciation of the field and grain condition
Note the GPS coordinates or use the GPS positioning tool on your cell phone
